Not sure if it's "serious," but just that something isn't right?
Cross-Shaped Recovery is a Lutheran Christian 12-step recovery meeting in Austin for those seeking relief from addiction.
Our fellowship combines the practical wisdom of the Twelve Steps with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We meet weekly for structured discussion, encouragement, and mutual support for people struggling with addictive behaviors. We are peer-led, non-professional, and not a substitute for detox, therapy, or pastoral care. We are, however, a mutual support group where you can be assured that you have help in your struggle.
There is no cost to attend, and your anonymity will be respected.
While our program is grounded in confessionally Lutheran theology, anyone who desires help with addiction is welcome to attend, regardless of personal belief. The Gospel is the hope we offer, not the entrance fee.
You are free to come once and decide if this is right for you.
Addiction tells us two lies: first, that we can control it if we just try a little harder. And then, after we fail, that we're hopeless and shouldn't try at all.
We believe recovery for Christians ultimately comes from God, not from unaided effort. What that looks like in our meetings: God's promises to forgive and restore you are spoken to you, again and again — out loud, in community. Those promises come from outside you, which means they don't depend on how you're doing. They depend on Christ, who never fails to keep His promises.
When recovery feels impossible, CSR points you to Jesus. He holds onto you even when you can't hold onto Him.
You are welcome to simply show up.
Arrive between 6:50 and 7:00 pm.
